Satori Philosophy
More than just a workout - it's a complete spiritual discipline. A focus on inner work & mindful devotion.
The power of breathwork & meditation - “When the breath wanders the mind is unsteady. When the breath is still, the mind is still.”
Intentional movement. It’s not about the aesthetics, it's about the work.
Honoring yoga's sacred origins. We respect the culture that gave us this path.
Service/Seva - it's not only about self improvement, it's about how we show up in the world.
Do no harm, take no shit. Living in harmony with nature, practicing Ahimsa (non-harm), seeking truth.
Yoga is every breath, every choice, every moment.
Always learning. A true teacher is always a student. The deeper you go, the more you realize the vastness of yoga’s truth.
At Satori, we blend structure with creativity. This guide will help you understand how we operate and support you in stepping confidently into your role.
We prioritize:
Consistency for our students through structured scripts
Freedom for teachers to grow and express themselves
A modern, inclusive, and evolving approach to yoga
Paying homage to the roots of yoga and the culture it comes from
Creating a space that feels safe, empowering, and real
Welcoming all identities, backgrounds, and perspectives
We ask all instructors to honor both the integrity of our systems and their own authentic voice.

Class Announcements:
Before class you can take a second to hand out necessary milestones. (Make sure to say “give them a round of applause” so the students have their moment). Teach script exactly as written + set playlist
Teach script + create your own playlist
Modify elements while maintaining integrity
We hold our scripts to a high standard to ensure consistency students can rely on. We welcome your creativity, while asking you to honor the integrity of the scripts and remain open to feedback and constructive guidance.
Teaching Your Own Classes (Mystique)
Interested in creating your own flow? Reach out to Louda or Kim.
Requirements:
Must know at least 2 Satori scripts before teaching a Mystique class.
This ensures alignment with student expectations and studio language.

You’ll submit videos of each section as you progress
If you don’t feel ready for your first class:
→ Let us know. We’ll support you.

Daily Outline
Teacher Expectations:
Every teacher is expected to be at the studio 30 min before their assigned class starts and as a kind gesture to the next teacher, plan to stay about 15 min after to make sure the transition runs smoothly.
Students often arrive early—be ready.
Before Class:
Arrive 30 min before class time
Turn heat up to 105
Turn on lights in the yoga room and lobby
Turn on music in the yoga room and lobby
Set up your mat at the front of the room
Update whiteboard on studio door (props needed & class info)
Check that pops are full
Check that lavender towels are wet
Spot check the studio for cleanliness and presentation
Remember to mention any studio announcements before class
Remember to announce any milestones at the beginning of class
After Class:
Finish class with Lavender towels in Savasana
Put out pops at the end of class in the Lobby
Greet students as they exit and get to know your students
Take any milestone pics that were announced during class announcements
Turn off room heat when you leave the room
Remove your mat if you aren’t teaching the next class
Clean studio room floor
Fill up Lavender Towels
Make sure any props that were used during class are left clean
Assist checking students into the next class if necessary
Turning on the heat:
Your goal is to have the room about 88-90 degrees when you start class. This ensures you have time to reach the goal temperature for each class.
1st Class of the day: At least 30 minutes before class
Any class that does not have a class directly before it: 15 - 30 minutes or enough time to reach your goal temps (give more time in the winter seasons
Turning off the heat:
Check the heat periodically throughout class and turn it off when you have reached your goal temperature. Do not turn it off too early. The room cools much faster in the winter.
For example, if you reach 96 in Diosana before your plank series, do not turn it off yet, run it until it hits 98-99 (which is still within range) or 5 minutes before the end of class. For all classes that have a class immediately after, try to turn the heat off 5 minutes before the end of class. Turning off the heat a bit before the end of class helps students to relax in the final savasana. It also aids in cooling the room a bit and makes the heat easier to manage for the next teacher.
Ensure the thermostat is set to 70 before leaving the room. (This is considered OFF)
Heat Awareness:
Our room gets really hot. At the beginning of class encourage all students to take savasana or child's pose in case they are feeling overwhelmed or overheated. It can be a shock to the system to leave and cool off in the lobby. It is your responsibility as a teacher to make sure they are okay and that nothing unwanted happens during that time that they are out of the room. I know this can be a big ask when directing the room. But this is your time to take control, put them in a resting position like a down dog, step out of the room and check on your student.
Not only is this for the safety of our students but for yourself. There has been a situation where a student stepped out early and snooped through people's things and stole from our students, so stay aware.
Goal temps for our core classes
98-100 Sitara and Lotus
96-99 for Diosana, Nekomata, Dharya
94-97 for Rebellion, Duality, and Atari
Studio Care
Cleanliness
Everyone at Satori shares responsibility for keeping the studio clean. We have two Karma Yogi cleaners who deep clean weekly, while teachers and front desk staff handle daily upkeep.
A cleaning list is kept at the front desk and updated daily—each person is asked to complete at least two tasks per shift, with more always welcome.
FYI: We also have a monthly window cleaner, Adam, who independently cleans the lobby windows and studio mirrors.
Laundry
Make sure to empty the lint trap
During your shift you only need to make one switch over
(Meaning you can put it to wash the next person will move it to the dryer, ETC)
Please make sure to smell the laundry during each process to make sure nothing sat too long and needs to be cleaned again
Use Baking Soda and 1 pod of laundry detergent
You can wash things on Normal Wash
You can dry things on Towel Dry since that’s mainly what we dry
Keep floor mop heads separate
Mop head laundry hamper is the grey hamper in the back room
Make sure to add towels from the shower room to wash as well
Studio Safety
We lock our doors at the beginning of every class and we advise you to keep the doors locked at all times other than the 15 min before and after a class but definitely if you are in the studio space alone.
You can refuse service to anyone who makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe. We believe in clear communication at the studio with anything that happens. If all of our teachers and staff are in the know, we can help and protect each other, ourselves and our community.

Self Care
As a teacher, your ability to hold space for others starts with how well you care for yourself. Prioritize nourishing your body with balanced meals, staying hydrated, and getting adequate rest—especially when teaching in a heated environment.
On a physical level, maintain your own practice with intention. Listen to your body, honor your limits, and focus on longevity over intensity. Recovery is just as important as effort.
On a spiritual level, stay connected to your “why.” Whether through meditation, breathwork, journaling, or study, continue to cultivate self-awareness and inner stillness. Your presence is one of your most powerful teaching tools.
On a health level, be mindful of signs of burnout, dehydration, or overexertion. Take breaks when needed and don’t hesitate to step back and reset.
On an emotional and mental level, practice patience, compassion, and non-judgment—both toward yourself and your students. Hold space without taking on others’ energy. Set boundaries when necessary, and remember that you don’t have to pour from an empty cup.
Taking care of yourself is not separate from teaching—it’s what allows you to show up fully, safely, and sustainably for your community.
Homage
Honor and respect the culture and lineage that yoga comes from. Yoga is more than movement—it is a deeply rooted spiritual discipline originating in ancient India, traditionally practiced as a path toward self-realization, inner harmony, and liberation.
As teachers, it’s important to move beyond a purely physical interpretation of yoga and stay connected to its original purpose. This can look like integrating breathwork, meditation, ethical principles (such as the Yamas and Niyamas), and intentional language into your teaching.
Be mindful of how yoga has evolved in Western spaces. While modern yoga often emphasizes fitness, aesthetics, and individual achievement, traditional Eastern practices center on inner awareness, discipline, devotion, and union of mind, body, and spirit. Holding both perspectives with awareness allows us to teach in a way that is both accessible and respectful.
Some key distinctions to stay aware of include:
Outer vs. Inner Focus: Western approaches often prioritize physical results; Eastern traditions emphasize inner transformation.
Individualism vs. Collectivism: Western culture leans toward personal goals; Eastern traditions often emphasize community and interconnectedness.
Performance vs. Presence: Western spaces may focus on doing and achieving; Eastern practices value being and experiencing.
Fitness vs. Spiritual Practice: Yoga in the West is often exercise-based; traditionally, it is a holistic spiritual path.
Speed vs. Stillness: Western culture tends to move quickly; Eastern traditions encourage slowing down and observing.
External Validation vs. Self-Realization: Western mindsets often seek outward success; Eastern philosophy points inward.
Control vs. Surrender: Western approaches may emphasize control and pushing limits; Eastern teachings invite trust, surrender, and acceptance.
Approach your teaching with humility, curiosity, and a willingness to continue learning. Giving homage isn’t about perfection—it’s about intention, respect, and a genuine effort to honor the roots of the practice while sharing it in a modern space.
Final Word
We hold our teachers to a high standard and believe in treating everyone with respect, clarity, and accountability. We aim to communicate openly and expect professionalism, integrity, and maturity to be reflected in your behavior.
Our priority is to create a space where both teachers and students feel comfortable, supported, and safe. As a teacher, you play a key role in shaping that experience. We ask that you actively contribute to an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and grounded in respect for all.
To maintain healthy boundaries and a professional atmosphere, we do not encourage romantic or personal relationships between teachers and students or among coworkers within the studio space. Clear boundaries help protect both you and the community.
Any conflicts or concerns will be addressed directly and respectfully. However, behavior that disrupts the safety, trust, or integrity of the space may impact your position with us. We are intentional about curating a community that aligns with our values and will make decisions accordingly to protect that environment.
We’re truly excited to have you here and grateful you’re part of this space. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or support you may need.
Welcome to the team 🤍
